Tomamu sells its out-of-bounds riding through the resort. On winter weekends the group leaves the hotels at 8:40 for the ridge between Soshubetsu-dake and Karifuri-dake, and a heated snowcat does the climbing from there. Up to twelve riders get four to six runs of 200–500 m and lunch in a yurt partway up. The 2026/27 price is ¥110,000. It was ¥74,800 in 2025/26, and bookings for the new season were pushed back to early November. Beacon, shovel, probe and pack are lent free, and Gentemstick boards rent for a fee.
Riki Nakajima's team runs the guided side from 11 January to 1 April 2027. The two-hour Step to Back Country session costs ¥20,000 a head and stays in the resort-controlled zone. Guiding Tomamu takes five hours and falls to ¥16,000 each when six ride together. The Sunrise BC Tour starts climbing at 3:00 for ¥30,000 once you've done one of the longer tours.
