Niseko Hanazono Resort runs the snowcats at Weiss, and its own figures put the cat base at 450 m with drop-offs at 930 m. The longest run drops 450 m. Pitches average about 20 degrees and the steepest reaches 30, so a strong intermediate on a powder board will be comfortable. Expect six or seven runs.
Only twelve guests ride each day. A shared seat costs ¥190,000 in peak season from 5 January to the end of February and ¥175,000 outside it, and the group cat only goes out once seven people have booked. Lunch at Chalet Ivy Weiss and pickup on the Hirafu side of the mountain come in the price. Riders aged 12 to 15 need a guardian along.
