Freeride Lodge Niseko
¥33,000 a night
Freeride is where you stay when the money goes on lift tickets and guides. It's a backpacker lodge in the trees at Higashiyama, and the walk to the Banzai lift at Niseko Village takes about eight minutes.
Dorms sleep four or seven, and the twins and four-person private rooms look out at the forest or the mountain. Bathrooms are shared and Western-style. Evenings happen in the big communal kitchen and the dining room, and the lounge has a bar for the post-mortem on the day's lines.
Breakfast is continental. There's a drying room for wet gear and a small shop for snacks. In January 2024 a dorm bed cost about ¥7,000 a night and a forest-view twin about ¥23,000.
