Volcanic alert
Tokachidake is at volcanic alert level 3
The Japan Meteorological Agency raised Tokachidake to level 3 on 12 September 2026, which restricts entry around the crater. Fukiage Onsen Hakugin-so and the Fukiage Roten-no-yu outdoor bath are closed, and Ryounkaku has asked guests who couldn't evacuate quickly to stay away for now. Check the JMA bulletin before you plan any tour on the Tokachi range.

Shin Furano Prince Hotel

This is the hotel at the bottom of the Furano Zone. The ropeway runs from beside it, and the slopes start outside the door. Seibu Prince runs it together with the ski area. Lesson sign-up is on the ground floor, and there's a rental counter in the building.
The onsen is called Shisai no Yu, and its water comes up from 1,010 metres below ground. Dinner can be the buffet or one of the restaurants, and Top of Furano sits on the top floor. The writer Kuramoto So made Furano famous with a TV drama, and Soh's Bar carries his name. Ask for an upper-floor town-side twin if you want Tokachidake out the window.
Tokachidake went to volcanic alert level 3 in September 2026. The hotel says it sits outside the restricted area and is operating as usual. The whole complex closes for maintenance from 4 to 26 November 2026.
