The Tsuruga group keeps this Niseko retreat to 24 rooms in the forest at Konbu Onsen, and you can hear the Niseko Anbetsu River from some of them. Book a suite with a private open-air bath. Most of the suites have one on a timber deck, and you can sit out there in falling snow with the water up to your chin.
Meisen no Yu holds the shared indoor pool and rotenburo, and its sodium chloride and bicarbonate spring feels smooth on the skin. The hotel bars tattoos from Meisen no Yu and counts sticker tattoos too. Tattooed guests should book a room with its own bath or reserve the private Wasen no Yu at ¥2,000 for 50 minutes.
Ryoriya Shorai brings dinner out one dish at a time from a seasonal Japanese course that changes daily, so a three-night stay never repeats. Breakfast is a set meal around Rankoshi rice. In winter the free ski shuttle runs morning and afternoon loops to Moiwa, Annupuri, the Hilton at Niseko Village and the Hirafu Welcome Centre. Book it by 20:00 the night before. The hotel also collects guests from JR Niseko Station on request.
