Japan C.R.C. runs Japan's biggest camper rental network, and its New Chitose store sits about fifteen minutes from the airport with a free shuttle in winter. From November to March it insists on 4WD and studless tyres, which you tick as options when you book, and every van has an FF heater. The family vans are Hiace and Camroad cab-overs with a fridge and a gas stove, plus a sub-battery and inverter for the lights. Sapporo only rents the little Happy1 kei camper.
The reason a rider picks this company is the Hoshino Resorts plan. For 2026/27 it runs from 25 December to 21 March, costs ¥44,200 a head for two or ¥35,450 each for four over two nights, and folds in sleeping bags, a kitchen set, Economy cover, a two-day Tomamu lift ticket, breakfast at Tomamu and OMO7 Asahikawa, and parking at both. Outside that plan the rate card bites in midwinter: 15 January to 20 February 2027 is premium season with a three-day minimum.
What it does well
- + The only rental company with a ski package: the Hoshino Resorts Powder Belt plan bundles a Tomamu lift ticket, breakfasts and baths
- + Winter rules are written down: 4WD and studless tyres are compulsory from November to March
- + Multilingual booking site and staff
- + Free airport shuttle to the New Chitose store from November to 19 April
What to watch for
- – Mid-January to mid-February is premium season, so the cheapest weekday rate more than doubles in the best snow
- – Four-person Powder Belt bookings can't choose between the two family vans
