TOMO runs a small Sapporo fleet and hands vans over at New Chitose through the Airport Parking shuttle. Its winter season runs from 4 January to 10 March, and in those weeks only the Corde Bunks-2, the two Amitys, the Freedom and the Run Through go out. All of them are 4WD, and each carries an FF heater and a fridge running off two sub-batteries. The Hiace-based Freedom has floor heating and a pine interior.
The winter rate sits below the summer high season: ¥18,700 a day for a Hiace and ¥30,800 for the Corde Bunks. Sinks are off from November to March. Plan on two and a half days or more, because TOMO turns down shorter bookings, and ask about tyres in writing since the site never mentions them.
What it does well
- + Clear winter policy: only the FF-heated 4WD vans go out
- + Winter rate undercuts the summer high season
What to watch for
- – Drivers must have held a licence for three years, and the site doesn't mention international permits
- – Rentals of 24 hours or a day and a half aren't accepted
