Pippu is a farming town 26 km north of Asahikawa, and its ski hill looks back across the Kamikawa basin toward the Daisetsuzan range. The longest run is the 2,200 m Strawberry course, and the town describes it like the fruit, smooth at the start with a little bite at the end. Two chairs and a rope tow run the whole hill.
Two courses keep strong riders interested. Golden is a mogul wall that reaches 30 degrees, and the Shinsetsu Veteran course goes steeper at 36 degrees with bumps and gaps that hold deep snow after a storm. Lift 6 costs two ride credits for the long ride up, so a 12-ride card runs down quickly there.
