Getting there
In lower Hirafu, walkable from most of the village; parking open 11:00–21:00.
The original Yukoro closed several years ago and sat empty in lower Hirafu. It reopened in September 2025, rebuilt on the same site and the same spring, in a stone and timber building by the architect Makoto Nakayama. From most of the lower village you can walk there in your après boots.
The water is a sodium bicarbonate and chloride spring with a fair dose of iron and magnesium. Men and women have separate indoor baths lined in natural stone, and there's a sauna. Outside, the rotenburo faces Yotei across the valley, and on the odd clear night the cone sits over the steam.
Winter pricing is set for the resort crowd at ¥2,500. Tickets come from self-service machines that take cards and QR payments only, so cash stays in your pocket. On Wednesdays the doors open at 3 pm, every other day at noon, and last entry is 8 pm.
